I agree. On the surface, this looks ridiculous and I am very surprised. Hopefully there is a good explanation... but pregnancy status as a query parameter? I don't understand what that could be other than data mining.

Yeah I feel that they are overzealous in closing useful (to me) questions, but its hard to know what the site would be like if they let discussions go--perhaps it would make it a lot more difficult to find the answer you're looking for

I think the most likely possibility is that it is fixed to some extant - i.e. your genetics give you a baseline. Then, of course, your environment effects how much you grow above your baseline.

Well yes, but there is actually a huge intersection with computer science - bioinformatics. Since bioinformatics only requires data, which is much easier to get, and programming/statistics/data mining skills, the barrier to entry
