2009 - 2013 there were some good bargains in LIC and other areas. It will take a major recession to see some prices come down again to some reasonable level. Also, I wonder what the volume of transactions is. Because I see little invento

1k was a cheap / barebones computer. (Celeron, or AMD K4 chip, with not much memory, and maybe a floppy disk and slow CD reader). A good one (in the 90s at least) was at least 1.5k-2k, which is 2.8-4k now.

I trust Fidelity. I used to work there years ago. It is a conservatively run place, careful with changes, which is a good thing when managing large amount of money. The tech and web interface might not be the shiniest, but I'd rath

How hard it is, if you have someone inside with the access of the code? If you have 100s of people with full access, not hard to have someone that is willing to sell it or do some industrial espionage...

Most bunkers were in line of 5, and connected by ditches/trenches. So, they almost were never by themselves (unless in some isolated aerea), but in lines, and connected to a network of trenches. As the war in Ukraine shows, trenches

Geary BRT is still not complete. 25 years in the making, and it is just a half assed solution. SF is very inefficient into completing mass transit infrastructure.

The Roman Empire was very advanced for the time, and it left such a huge imprint on the civilization even centuries, and thousands of years after it. The organization was a different scale. Fun fact: Some of the most famous battles in Engl

I haven't used the static version, but almost eveyrone that I know have used Lua loves it. There is beauty to its simplicity/bare bones approach to programing.

Youtube, Maps (mobile, the web version has been getting worse), Gmail are pretty good. So, their core services are fine; for anything that is not in the 'hot money making' path, good luck, some are great some are bad.

Before Git, Perforce was state of the art. Before that it was SVN (open source, decent) and tools like IBM Clearcase (not good, file locking, etc) Perforce was very easy to use and honestly git was a step backwards on a overall usability.

17% is a huge cut. More than that and you end up damaging operations. Look what is happening to X / Twitter. PS. Spotify had already two layoffs, once 6% in Jan 2023 and 2% in June. This combined seems like a 25% ish cut.
