> If you knew anything about human language... > My pet peeve is people like you... Wow, that was kind of mean. I understand that you have an opinion about this topic but I don't think that's a legitimate reason to be insulting.

Interesting points! We are using a naive Bayes classifier right now, and we're working with some social aspects, especially as they relate to Latent Semantic Analysis. We've considered doing a mini Netflix Prize for further improving our

Hi Maro, I invite you to try it out yourself. I've released 500 "hackernews" invites so everyone can give it a try. You're right, it's a lot easier to filter out spam emails with the word "V1AGRA" than it is to filter out news posts. You'

Hey pclark, Feedscrub co-founder here. We're still waiting to see what our conversion numbers will look like. I imagine it'll take users a few days to train the filter and see how it works with their feeds. We're thrilled to have so many

Given the razor-thin margins of grocery stores I'm not sure why they don't try a more ad-supported model. Hang huge colorful printed ads over each aisle, charge fees to the name-brands if they want to be placed anywhere but directly behind

This seems to be changing on sites like HN and Stack Overflow. The only difference I can see is that the moderators intentionally guide the discussion away from trolling. Are there other factors here that I'm missing?

Seems to come back to the question of whether you can hold the whole program in your head. If so then it's simple to figure out what needs to be tested and what doesn't. One ancillary benefit of TDD is that it increases your confidence for

The problem with standardization is that you iron out all of the innovations. Certain language constructs are simply better for certain tasks. Lisp is built for recursion so it's great with lists. Object-oriented languages in theory are

Congratulations, bootstrapping is both exciting and honorable. But also remember, some of the best things about bootstrapping are also its biggest challenges. For instance, if you are paying employees in equity instead of salary realize th
