I'm the opposite of a morning-person. I know some people enjoy audio books and whatnot, but I'm just trying to wake up so I just play some music from my phone (Over the car audio system), what I play depends on my current mood. Ev

There are different ways to do it depending on if the client is online or if it has to be offline, and using a dongle or not (Uncommon today). If the client will be online you can just do an API call and check on start, if there's no k

Yup, and that's a problem. It makes perfect sense for the bootcamps to exist to fill that niche, it's just horribly unfortunate for both the companies hiring people with less skill than they think, and the new developers being led

Did you know that that the average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour?

I think a lot of it stems from bootcamps and whatnot, focusing on letting people check off a number of boxes by the end of the course/system/whatever. Node - Check React - Check Angular - Check NPM - Check "See how much you&#

This was a very interesting read, and I agree with Ragnars conclusions. I'm amazed sometimes of how complicated and heavy some people, especially new developers, make things. While I usually pull in JQuery for small applications, somet

Sure, I get that, but there are as many opinions as there are tools, and you'll get lots of people fighting each other over what's best. Assembler, maybe not, but C++ makes perfect sense, in some cases. And that's the problem

I suggest looking into the curriculum of your upcoming studies and getting a headstart with whatever language(s) you'll be studying. The simple truth is that unless you truly specialize, your software developer career is going to be a

A license key is just a string you can easily track, and depending on delivery of the key you might want to make it easy to type. If it's all downloadable/copy-paste, just use any GUID generator. If you're relying on people t

Since you want to do drawings and stuff we're definitely talking JavaScript and graphic frameworks, either raw canvas or something like the D3 library would be my guess. For the backend, although it pains me to say so, I suggest PHP si

I'd imagine that the browser is the resource-heavy part of the application, Nodejs doesn't use hundreds of mb's of RAM in my experience, at least not while doing very little background work. To me it would make sense to build

By the looks of it, only the console (Or equivalent) is used for output, so bundling an entire browser seems way overkill for the output. There's plenty of ide-libraries in other languages to replace the one used by runjs.

It's arguably the most advanced gui builder available. As for snappy, fluid, single-window apps that is 100% doable and up to the gui developer. It's not hard to use groups and switch between views, and make things dynamically res

You can't run an Electron app on the web without changing code either, seeing as it's a browser AND a webserver combo. You also don't take a webapp and separate server and just drop the two into a folder and run it as an El
