Oooh, nice site! I like it :) Some ideas: 1. You could add the objective O2 headphones amp (very nice build) 2. I have a stash of common parts I bought in bulk (mostly SMD R/C), if those were automatically "supplied" via my p

Seems nice from a "been there, done that" point of view. Usually rolling your own solution helps in better understanding the underlying problem. But, as many people pointed out, having a custom build system calls for trouble (eg c

That's why I moved from maintaining my own mail server (with spam filter and activate sync) to a provider. I still own the domain and have a catch-all configured for per-account mail addresses on a subdomain with the mail going to bulk

Good memory management is important for a high performance, low latency DBMS. I don't see how getting rid of GC is bad engineering practice. If a tool is not well suited for a problem, use another tool. Could you please explain your op

One would need to look up the type of battery and how long the camera runs on that. I think it's a good idea, but especially in cases of non-continuous monitoring (e.g. 1 FPS or way less) with modern low power electronics this could be

I second this. When I do some quick stuff at home or at work, a small ditch in performance is okay, if I spend less time coding. But I know a few people (researchers) with access to >1 PetaFlop/s clusters. Being hit with performance

To make any worthwhile claims you need the worst case execution time of your code. Even in the absence of multi-threading, technologies like caches or out-of-order execution can make this quite painful. The common solution seems to be: Don&

If you liked that accelerator you should get a tour through the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. My sister was an operator there so we got an exclusive tour; and boy, that thing is massive! Those giant spectro
