Someone might feel different about a (future) community owned and managed LLM than one controlled by Altman, Musk, and similar. It would be nice to feel like we're building something together instead of funding the oligarchy and accele

In other words, it is an existential question for them. And given that some of the people running these companies have no moral convictions, expect a complete shitshow. Regulation. Natural security classifications. Endless lawfare. Outright

I think it will actually filter out people who weren't doing it for the money.

What do you mean by European? Because as someone with Slavic heritage, I'd rather you excluded my culture from your offensively aggregated "Western European" culture. You don't get to claim Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, and So

In London, I saw lampposts with EV chargers built in, as well as tastefully concealed sidewalk ports. This is not an intractable problem.

Why is this eulogy flagged but the Chuck Norris eulogy not? Mods? Some consistency would be nice.

How is the Western approach more sustainable? Once EVs get bootstrapped, they are better than ICE vehicles in almost every respect. Once your society is built around EVs, there’s barely a reason to use anything else. That feels a lot more s

Sounds like it would be pretty productive for employees to unionize and replace their CEO with an LLM.

You're not actually doing engineering if you're just vibe-coding, reviewing, and testing all the way down. What the hell is that? Just a weird simulacrum of software development that will break apart in unpredictable ways. Securit

Altman is a ruthless capitalist, not a thought leader in any way. Why are we sharing his writing while pretending that he is?

Well, because I'm not getting 80-100ms latency. In a first-person shooter, 100ms would be 6 frames and make the game basically unplayable with a mouse. Also there's nothing intrinsically expensive about DLSS to cause such a latenc

In my experience I get 2x perf without visual degradation or any notable latency at all. Certainly not 100ms — I can easily notice 16ms.
