The unspoken (and utterly antisocial) subtext is "we are aiming for an exponential leveraging of our labor and complete domination of the market."

Kinda funny that you're quoting a real author who would never in a million years have resorted to using slop generators. "I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself." -Hayao Miyazaki

I seriously doubt that the vast majority of women would avoid using a period tracking app just because it's not pink and stereotypically girly. Frankly, I find the notion vaguely offensive. iOS/watchOS has had period tracking func

I worked at a FAANG in a senior role for around 6 years and I completely agree with the article. (I left before LLM/agent use became widespread, but I would have flamed out anyway if it was forced upon me.)

This forum, unfortunately, selects for FAANG mercenaries. Other forums will have radically different takes.

AI is not an abstraction layer. If this is not obvious to a so-called engineer, they should probably not be throwing stones.

This feels like some toxic-ass political subtweeting, though I can't definitively prove it.

I think a browser is an inverted universal engine. The underlying tech is solid, but on top of it sits the DOM and scripting, and then apps have to build on top of that mess. In my opinion, it would be much better for web apps and the DOM

As a Russian person, my cultural heritage is Slavic, not "white". Ignoring skin tone, I’m not sure what my Slavic background has in common with — for instance — Italian or Irish culture. In fact, Italians, Irish, and Russians woul

Also, the fact that FireBeyond's comment is downvoted is a massive indictment of this community. They said absolutely nothing worth downvoting for. The hatred for the homeless is sickening.

The boiling, unspoken subtext to anti-homeless vitriol is often “well, they should just die then.” On occasion, they actually say it out loud: https://endhomelessness.org/media/news-releases/national-all...

Not to mention the majority of passerby ignoring you (in the best case) or outright loathing you. No wonder the homeless get so attached to their dogs. The dogs love them without judgement.

So an unhoused person has to either go to prison (accomplishing what?) or go to some “treatment” camp in the woods and pay for it (using what money?!) Excuse me, but what the fuck? Which part of this helps them get out of their shitty situa

AI is not an abstraction layer — no more than paying contractors is an “abstraction” over writing the code yourself.

Thing is, the companies doing these layoffs rarely actually end up losing money from overhiring. They’re still profitable. Just not profitable enough for the people on top. That’s a bit perverse. In democracies, corporations ultimately ex
