Recently, with the AWS outage, our stack of loads of different cloud providers ended up working pretty well! It might be a bit complex running distributed nodes and updating state via API, but its cheap and clearly resilient.

I'm at this stage. We have a good product with a solid architecture but only a few paying clients due to a complete lack of marketing. So I'm now doing the unfun things!

How do you deny the capacity to fingerprint? That's basically disabling JavaScript.

In terms of the effectiveness of the banner, yes it absolutely does. Multiple exposures increase your propensity to convert.

But were you originally convinced to donate by one of those giant Jimmy Wales banners that come up once a year? People won't see them anymore if they're using AI summaries.

They're probably right about search being replaced by AI chat. I've barely used Google since chatGPT came along. I don't think the Spotify model will work though. Content will end up being pay walled and unavailable to the AI

I can understand why else is sometimes not needed. JS linters will remove unnecessary else statements by default. https://eslint.org/docs/latest/rules/no-else-return#rule-det... But never using it is crazy.

What's your moat? From my personal experience, it's very easy to get openai to summarise text like this so it seems any email company could implement a similar feature pretty quickly.

I would suggest you stick with it. Docker compose is very powerful once you get the hang of it and it can be used to deploy straight to AWS etc. But no, you're not a bad person if you give up. Remember that each time you restart a con

There's unlikely to be a self-driving image dataset bigger than Google reCAPTCHA's. Maybe scale is the key to operating more safely.

My email address has been used by someone in America to sign up for an online fashion brand. I get emails of their receipts every time they buy new clothes. More recently, they signed up to some tanning salon and I got a receipt for a Brazi

Fair point. But vite makes this easier than esbuild. I get a bundle that's immediately executable with node

Webpack is much slower because it's written in JS. Vite uses esbuild to compile, which is written in Go. That's probably why you saw the speed up.

Vite uses esbuild under the hood. It can also create bundles with all your deps, which is essential when you don't want an npm i step involved during deployment (lambdas/containers).

Copilot is useful for auto completing glob or writing a simple regex. Anything more complicated and it will often make mistakes. Finding mistakes in 20 lines of AI generated code is slower than writing it yourself.
