Access to large compute farms in most enterprises requires that users do not have root access to the nodes. Being able to run Docker containers on the farm would be fantastic. This is a great article that I will investigate further. Thanks!

Make gets a bad rap but I've seen it being used for susbtantially complex workflows. If you wrap your commands in something that can reattach to running processes and use dependencies correctly, it is hard to displace.
