Maybe it's nitpicking but the shibboleth was used to differentiate between members of different tribes of the same people involved in what amounted to a civil war. It is useless for distinguishing between speakers of different language

The star that supposedly disrupted the cloud would have to be in the neighborhood but it isn't according to current data. But it might be in which case it would be very dim. That's why more data is needed.

There is no reason two or more observers can't share a synchronized clock so long as it is outside their respective frames of reference. Example, a far away, mutually observable pulsar.
