I've had a generic harassment training, not specifically sexual, but one thing I hate about all those trainings is how infantilizing they are. They all had some "gamified" aspect to their horrendously simple multiple choice q

You may be filtering your pipeline according to the wrong criteria, and rejecting candidates strong in algorithms but weak(er) in JS specific or framework-specific stuff at a stage that's too early. Or those candidates may be unicorns

It's not how I would code it but it sounds straightforward for someone who's done any jQuery, frankly. How did your candidates fail on this one? Did they just freeze up and not try?

I don't do frontend but they all sound fairly easy to me, although 9 is odd (I'm assuming you want people to compute timeouts? To prove they're decent at arithmetic? In which order should the balls animate, row-first or colum

Yes, absolutely. It would make sense either for funding bodies to provide ways to fund contract developers or for even smaller institutes to be required to spend a portion of their budget on full-time developers (instead of spending it all

I agree with the idea, but I'm curious -- at the Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics did undergrads have the fundamental biochemistry knowledge to model pathways? When I was a third year half my enzymology class were struggling mentally

To be clear though -- sometimes (often) this is not due to lack of education. The job of researchers is to produce papers and grants, not working software, and postdocs and grad students are junior researchers, not junior developers. It adv

I have a graduate degree in biochemistry. (This is not biology and there is some difference in e.g. the makeup of the people who choose each course. So please take my experience with the required amount of salt). Today I am a programmer. He

There are drug classes where for many reasons, some IP related, there are multiple (all FDA approved) very similar molecules, or the same molecule in different formulations. Those drugs all have some measure of efficacy (otherwise they woul

For this stage of drug discovery (finding potential hits off of ligand databases, finding potential targets, and refining ligands in silico without running real high-throughput lab work) machine learning may work better at lesser cost. It&#

So I read the 2D graphics prop, P0267[1] and this summary[2], and it seems to suffer from most of the problems that caused, e.g., HTML5 Canvas to be superseded by WebGL whenever it became practical to do so in most browsers. (And Canvas had

I work in 3D (and 2D) graphics primarily in C++. I don't think the standards committee can come up with anything that'll replace the GPU-accelerated APIs (there's already the Direct3D 12-vs-Vulkan split that's really unl
