If you need people to navigate through the information you provide and it is more than a couple of pages of links, you need search engine. If your stuff is generic text then Google will find it for you. However, if you have categories, unus

And that's supposed to be the hard part. There are no workaround for the hard parts. You need to understand the complex issues involved. However, you may want to read the blog from Found.no, they have a lot of great material: https:&#

I am a Solr specialist (and author www.packtpub.com/apache-solr-for-indexing-data/book ), but usually the comments I see about Elastic Search is that it is _easy_ to get started with. Then, it gets a lot more complex (and so does

Is Silota based on Lucene (or ES or Solr)? Because you don't seem to mention it. And if it is not, there is not enough information to make an informed choice. I don't see any information on tokenization nor does your own site seem

Well, you could use Solr. As with ES, the basic examples run out of the box. But frankly, whichever search engine you use, at some point you will have to read a book or dig hard to understand underlying issues such as tokenization. But star

Sounds like too many steps. Why not use ePub directly. It's just a Zip with funny HTML inside. Index that and you may even get page numbers. Contact me if interested in collaborating (it's one of my todo projects).

Yeah, I find it funny given that they published like 10 books on Solr and Elastic Search combined. I guess they don't have time to eat their own dogfood. The problem with breadth publishing approach!

You could try mine: http://www.packtpub.com/apache-solr-for-indexing-data/book . It's quite popular and comes with a GitHub repo for the examples.

My next (sort of) book idea is centered around using GitHub for teaching Solr. The early hints are: https://twitter.com/arafalov/status/428273297126875137 and https://twitter.com/arafalov/sta

Depends on use case. If you have websites that only publish every couple of weeks (or several times a year), you want some sort of subscription to not miss what they have to say (e.g. new version announcement).

Lunr.js does provide a way to pre-compile the index on the server side. Check out the discussion and implementation in progress of using the pre-compilation for Jekyll: https://github.com/olivernn/lunr.js/issues/26 .

There is also Dangle ( https://github.com/fullscale/dangle ), which is D3+Angular backed by ElasticSearch. So, if Radian cannot be open sourced, perhaps Dangle can pick up the slack.
