I didn't wear a suit, but in 2012 I wore slacks, tucked in collared shirt, and a tie, and got the same response from Microsoft. It was for an internship which is hilarious. I interviewed elsewhere and one other time I wore an Oxford. I

I'm the same, and it makes me paranoid. I feel like I'm investing purely in one company instead of any defensive diversification. But my job is very demanding and I have 4 hours after work to spend with my wife and kids before I h

After the Great Suspender debacle, I feel the same. I try to limit plugins/extensions to as many minimal use cases as possible.

It's not possible to accidentally steal $1B when your intention was to steal $10K. Scale does matter - this isn't "luck".

I think there's almost no chance. SBF is a perfect example of someone to throw the book at. He's effectively Madoff 2.0, the people everyone from the lowly to the elite hate. Ross Ulbricht is a very unique, interesting case. I don

I completely agree with you. I actually have this privilege and I still would be absolutely grinding until I got any job. I also think in terms of retirement - it's not just savings being depleted, but it's active months I'm

Considering half the comments are “Proxmox” and “Virtualbox/Parallels” are so much better anyway, I’m guessing most commenters in here are extremely naive and not aware of the IT landscape.

It’s odd to me someone would come in here and blame his Christianity over every other problem Intel has had before and during his tenure. Edit: Ah, not their first time. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40704262

That is a solution, but not an ideal one for many (most?). One of the great innovations of the smartphone is that I have all 3 devices in one small form factor, so I don't need to carry/travel with the bulk of many.

I use nix-darwin on an M2 as a daily driver. It works great! A few quirks you need to go with Brew (mostly graphical applications), but my setup is almost identical between my NixOS and my nix-darwin setups other than that (and some OS togg

For those on macOS, yabai + skhd have been part of my workflow for years now. They are fantastic to bridge the gap I miss so much from i3.

Yes. 1. You're already in your terminal. 2. You get to use Vim (if that's your thing). 3. You don't have to use VSCode (if it's not your thing).

Odd that you choose Windows to swipe at when this was largely CRWD's problem + a mix of awful due diligence by IT departments.

I genuinely have no idea how to read the first diagram presented. Maybe I'm not the target audience - I'm significantly NOT a visual learner, but that first diagram is far more confusing to me than code/pseudocode.

This is not true - you do own your phone if you pay for it outright. Apple cannot take away your phone. As far as the software - Apple owns iOS and licenses it to you for your device.

Nix + Home Manager is by far the easiest-to-manage system for dotfile management to date for me. The added bonus is: 1. No need for complicated directory structures that a symlink-like script needs to manage. 2. Dotfile management coupled w
