There's a lot more tesla cars than google cars. And I don't think there was a single death directly because of autopilot (not 100% sure though). Also, autopilot is safer, so it actually _saved_ lives.

It's so you won't have multiple 'ooh' moments a year in coding - "I need to change that base thing, will require large rewrite". Or at least decrease possibility of it. Six months seems a bit too long even for

Thanks, I know that distributed storage is hard, that's why I would be ok if K8s could just work with something like docker compose volumes on local storage and copy them between servers if needed.

Thanks for your explanation. Looks like k8s is designed by Google with Google in mind - where data is somewhere over network and main problem is to manage code. I just thought it could be perfect solution to completely abstract and isolate

Thanks for the answer. How easy will it be to transfer this cluster to another set of servers (with data copy)? Like, stop the service for several minutes, push the button "Transfer" and start service on new servers after that. As

So, how well is Kubernetes suited for working with local hardware? As I understand it's mainly supposed to work with some external abstracted storage, like AWS EBS, cephs, NFS etc But it's much slower that local SSD and for some s

And I think they didn't touch it because that's the place where they can't use advantage of parallel execution - javascript's model suppose that user's code is single threaded.

I think that's still too low level. On the higher view, in in average people still do this: Born on the planet; eat and sleep; raised by parents; work and try to get wealthy; find partner and create family with them; get old and die; T

Of course any creator of patented nuclear powered widget wants the patent to exist longer, not shorter, because it's easier to make money. But shortening patent life is for world progress' sake, here the most beneficial strategy

Patent lifespan of 20 years maybe was ok in 1886, but it's too long now, when multiple tech revolutions can happen in 20 years.

But AirBnB reviews don't work like that. Even though you leave star rating, nobody sees it (I don't know how it looks like on the host side though, as I only used it as a tenant). Only feedback traceable to you is text you write,

How does Doom take advantage of 4k?

I see your point. I guess it also requires much larger screen. Because if 1 pixel man will be moving on my 27-inch fullhd screen, even though on 4k display it will be 4 pixels, it still be same physical size and not much easier to notice :)

Can you tell me (honest question) what improves with 4k for games? I mean, for regular stuff you can see more details on the picture, but games usually just render essentially same picture only for larger resolution. And picture with fullhd

I guess it might be because with experience your expectations also rise. You may be easily qualified for starting programming position somewhere, but now, when you're more experienced, you'll aim higher, right?

This idea can be applied to any species, and yet, there are animals who regrow body parts - octopus can regrow tentacles, crayfish and lobsters can regrow claws, salamander can regrow tail and limbs, etc.
