I got a fraudulent tax filing that year, as did my sister and several of my friends. Can we prove it's due to the leak? Not really. It's hard to prove something like that. But I'm still very convinced.

That is the metric I use, but is not the one you said above, leaving me a little confused.

Got it. We just have different metrics for what makes a successful prohibition.

That's very much not true. The main progressive argument against strict prohibitions is that people are going to use drugs/alcohol regardless of the law, and so a prohibition will create a black market with organized crime and dan

> the data show that prohibition works in general, whether it be drugs or alcohol. This is interesting. I've only seen data that says the exact opposite of this. Can you cite anything?

Without any evidence that ties accelerationism to this, this isn't adding context. It's just a distraction.

Also I'm not sure that every household has someone able-bodied enough to do that work.

This is a problem now, but I'm getting tired of these articles seeing a current limitation and acting as if that limitation will be the case forever. They'll iron out some wrinkles over time.

There are also some things that do work decently well that we don't do anymore for political reasons, such as estate taxes.

I don't agree with their logic here: "the fact that mass transit, whether private or public, has generally been used mainly by an elite. In 2019, the median income of people who commuted by transit to work was significantly higher

I love Ruby for this kind of stuff. You don't have to have arguments about which syntax you prefer, you can just use the one you prefer and let your coworkers use theirs. However, a lot of developers love very strict style guidelines.

That’s the generally recommended style! I hate this post. It’s arguing against something that is well known to be a bad practice (that’s fine), but it seems to put the fault for this on Ruby itself.

I used to work in data engineering for ML and yes, I'd say 90% of our technical expertise on both the science and engineering side went into designing the datasets.

Why are those mutually exclusive? We should help drug users get off drugs, but we shouldn't make it deadlier for them if we fail.

The article is paywalled, but this suggests to me we go further in harm-reduction. The problem is specifically opioid overdoses, so we should have more supervised-injection sites.
