This is one of the most one-sided articles I've seen on RWW. Of all the comments here, they choose this one? http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1266864 And they mentioned Robinson's "This is not how it went down" comment without the main

Sure, I didn't mean to imply any particular chain of causality -- just the fact that there is virtually no value in a positive article from Techvibes given their financial conflict-of-interest in this story.

But now with Boris Wertz on board, new funding secured, and the spotlight of this story, there is no doubt that due diligence on all sides will improve and the next cohort of startups will be better than ever. Hmm, ok. Disclosure: Boris

Not all hackers have the same itches. Also, easier to build != less valuable. The other thing is that there is a continuum between yourself and random people: yourself - family - friends - coworkers - acquaintances - random people. And so e

If I write on my blog about Comcast doing something bad, what is stopping Comcast from simply blocking all connections to my blog?

Do you think a company like Comcast will stop with a little bit of price discrimination? The FCC can be held accountable by the public to a much larger extent than any company.

Although the entire premise is a little absurd (either A or B), I'd much rather have the FCC making stupid decisions than a private company (Comcast/Time Warner) block chunks of the internet that are not in their best interest to show. Publ

Awesome! Yeah, I realized that two of the authors were at Adobe and had a suspicion that you might have been an intern there as well, but wasn't sure. As a computer vision researcher, I guess it sometimes irks me when I see great research w

Not to take away all of the credit, but this is very heavily based on a research paper, as pointed out elsewhere in the comments: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1215894 (2 of the 4 authors are at Adobe Research, while the others are

Meta-point: I'm surprised at how accurate this article was in terms of the way it explained the concepts and the jargon. It seems to be rare in non-tech publications.

Sure, but when you're talking about what makes a place better than another for startups, what matters is not who's more important, but what the limiting factor is. And to me it seems clear that in NYC it's investors, not entrepreneurs. Sure

Why do different kids of the same parents have different personalities? Presumably they're "wired" that way from birth, yet it's not necessarily inherited directly from one parent. Genetics probably plays some role (as it does in almost any
