my understanding is that Automattic pay for it because it doesn't cost them much and their income comes from other sources, mainly WordPress. That is a pretty stable stream of income, but you're right that they could be treating t

Just did. KDE is more stable than ever before. I'm on 5.24.4 on Arch, fwiw.

KDE stores a lot of dotfiles. I have had luck preserving my config because I don't wipe my root folder, but aside from that it's quite hard to migrate from one PC to another.

I think it looks pretty good! That said, I think having to click a small "read more" link instead of the post title on your main page is not great UX.

Cute, but #3b3b3b is still grey. Either the author has moved over to the dark (lighter?) side in the several years since publishing this, or it's just hypocrisy.

Fedora is really great, but it is a bit bleeding edge in that there are lots of updates all the time. I have found Arch with an LTS kernel (I use older hardware) to be about similar in terms of stability.

I don't mind being a "HaX0r" if it means fiddling around with configs and code on my own system. That's not what's happening here though.

Financial pressure is also societal. I just feel like all this crying foul about authoritarianism is because people view certain roles, even the essential ones, as beneath them. If that mindset needs to be changed then I'm all for it.

Regarding point 1, how is "the people who we force to" an acceptable answer to this? Because that's exactly what happens now. No one wants to work hard, dirty jobs, but there is a societal pressure upon them to, and enough in

The most important, non-negotiable thing to me is a quick launch. It has to go from 0-100 (or at least to usable), as fast as possible. Among text editors Sublime is still the gold-standard for this, launching even faster than Notepad++ som
