Very interesting way of thinking about it, I don’t recall it ever being presented that way before. Thanks

Huawei is often blamed for stealing information from Nortel that led to Nortel’s bankruptcy, both information about deals being made that let Huawei undercut them and technical product details that allowed Huawei to more easily be a substit

I’m still using redmine. It allows me to create a project, break it down in to tasks, assign time estimates for the tasks, assign % complete, log time against tasks, which then allows for burn down charts so I can see if I am on track or b

The condo market is hurting the most. Which is exactly what people have been asking for - lower prices - achieved by vacancy tax, foreign buyer ban, speculator tax, and no rights for landlords.

Thanks for the reply and the link. A machine with infinite inertia would resist any frequency change and instantly go to maximum or minimum power upon any grid frequency deviation. A 25s inertia constant is impressive. The hydro units I wor

>Beyond raw performance, the GC Flux PCS features advanced grid-forming capabilities, making it ideal for modern grid applications. It supports active inertia response up to 25 seconds, wide-band damping across 1–1500 Hz, and ultra-fast

What kind of company do you work for that is doing so much embedded/controls type work? I program hydro power plants and governors with a 30 year mindset and no guarantee I ever get access to the plant again once I sign off as complete

By thermal issues I meant electrical heating of windings in rotor, stator, transformer due to impedance changes with frequency. I have only worked on one steam turbine and it had no issue running with the throttle valve wide open all day long

There is no such thing as a frequency mismatch between the grid and the generator. There are frequency deviations from 60 Hz but turbine and grid deviate together

One of the parent posts correctly identified there are thermal issues with operating at significantly off nominal frequencies for extended time periods. System operators will specify frequency bands and minimum time a generator has to s

They trim back what poses the highest risk with the budget they have. As you have identified A wider right of way costs more. Usually for lines above some voltage, perhaps 200kV, the cost of an outage due to a tree strike outweighs the cost

They have been controlling hot water tanks in New Zealand for decades… probably since the 70s. They use what they call a ripple signal by adding 400 hz on top of the 60 and then relays on your hot water tank detect the 400hz and switch it o
