I've been recording something each week that I release to complete strangers in other countries, but don't make that much money for. It is a fun hobby my wife and I do together and with friends, though. I'd say it forces us t

Part of the joy of podcasts is that listening is kinda like hanging out with friends when you find a good one. Sure, that may take a while, but I don't get why this dude is all butt hurt about it, or why anyone should care about his op

Fantastic! Bluebeard is the book that inspired me to make the switch from poetry to novels. Vonnegut holds a special place in my heart.

After 11 years using and working with Linux, I settled on Slackware for my desktop, Debian for laptops. Slackware because it's secure, stable, and I don't get caught up in all the silly gui changing and whatever that I used to. It

Just because that's how you type numbers doesn't mean it's good for you ergonomically. I switched to using the number line and I'm fine doing it now. It's actually sometimes faster because I have 8 fingers instead o

Phreaking is my favorite topic right now. I've been working with phones for a decade or so and recently set up a phone server of my own to mess around with. Instead of just letting it sit there unused, subscribers to my podcast get a p

I was thinking the same thing! Is buying a massager thing on amazon a similar solution, then just sleeping with it under your pillow?

Sounds like a cult to me. Do you want a cult? Because this is how you get a cult.

This has the potential to be a very beautiful thing. It seems like companies want us to focus on becoming as private as possible because less info we freely release, the more valuable it is to them. I'm a firm believer that privacy wil

Cats have different personalities, just like people. Not all people like other people, not all cats like people. Cats are allowed to be "unfriendly".

by apotatopot 7y ago
Just in case, because of my experience, the cat bite doesn't have to be powerful/severe or deep to require medical attention. Mine was on my finger and quit bleeding after I washed it, but now I know I should've gone to urgen

I've learned from my recent experience that dog maulings is why states take animal bites so seriously. My cat bit me, requiring medical attention (due to infection, the bite wasn't bad at all), cat may have rabies, may be an outdo

This is my situation. Cats have different personalities and some don't like to be touched, some like to hunt more than others. Those aren't factors that need to be fixed or are the result of us as owners. My cat doesn't like

And that's been fixed, so maybe don't assume. No need to be an asshole to strangers when you don't know anything about them but a few words.

by apotatopot 7y ago
No, absolutely not. man, i really don't get why people are tearing me apart here when none of you know anything about me or my cat. You all sound like a bunch of assholes.

That's awesome. I've been toying with the idea of setting up things like that. My next little project is setting up sms support so folks can text in. My podcast is Accidentally Fasting. Again, not related to tech at all, but I get

It's funny to me to see "was cool" and "amazing this is still alive", because I absolutely love Asterisk. I cut my teeth building Freepbx boxes at a small/mid business voip provider in college before moving on
