I'm fairly excited too. It seems the target is "Vercel but for PHP" and the lack of a Vercel/Netlify-style deployment option has pretty consistently been used as an argument against using PHP/Laravel at my agency. I

In the past, Apple explicitly forbade this except in certain negotiated cases like Spotify and Netflix if I recall correctly. Has that changed?

Not necessarily. There are a lot of really good, self-taught engineers out there who have never had to do that before and likely don't even know what "invert a binary tree" means. In my experience, it's much better to gi

I've been using Sublime Merge since it was first announced (and Sublime Text since ST2 I think). Absolutely love the experience. It's less a Git GUI and more just the CLI displayed in a well-designed GUI, if that makes sense. It&#

Switching to black on white makes it easier (there's an option in the corner). In general, though, I like the thought and effort that went into it. The Verge does these sorts of one-time article layouts semi-frequently and I tend to ap

I'm not interested in the product, but I have to say this site is great. Too many sites that get posted in Show HN are so difficult to decipher what service they provide or function they serve. This landing page is about as clear as yo

The reason that bit is relevant is that robots.txt is only applicable to the current domain. Because each "page" is a different subdomain, the crawler needs to fetch the robots.txt for every single page request. What the poster wa

I'm not the OP but I think you're looking at it backwards. It's not that you're looking for a 10 year commitment, it's that you're looking for someone who isn't planning to leave in 1-2 years. At my place

It's likely just that they haven't done the legwork to properly support it yet, or don't want to be a whitelabel service. Even the little gas station washes by me push subscriptions now. My agency has built out a few of these

Under GDPR, I believe they do (at least in EU courts). It's a law that applies to EU citizens, not just to EU jurisdictions. I do not know if that is the case with the DMA, however. (Note: not a EU citizen but have had to deal with som

Most common theory is union busting. NYT would eventually layoff its entire (unionized) sports division in favor of the Athletic, which isn't unionized. Most critics have accused them of union busting by outsourcing their sports report

Yes. They sold to NYT because they didn't have a path to profitability or IPO. They were looking at a possible closure before the sale and lost $55M the year before the sale. Since the sale, things have been a little less clear because

Even if they were to reinvent away from print, the market is so congested they'd never find a customer base again. Sports news can be had, for free, from hundreds, perhaps thousands of websites. The big news gets broken, again for free

I could have worded it better. Basically, we've been inundated with a bunch of pre-release players saying the game was basically unplayable on any GPU. Post-launch, it's perfectly playable for a lot of people. Even on older cards.
