Unfortunately, rendering all that text on a canvas even in your link makes it inaccessible to many people living with disability too - the same as the intro video without captions. This is a really good example of how not to use canvas.

I've never had to program so efficiently where this kind of thing would matter - only ever optimizing for readability and correctness in terms of bugs. For people who do, do you enjoy performance optimization or does it get tedious?

I don't know about this one, but I'm not sure why you would. A lot of that investment gets paid back by feeding energy back into the grid - you would be throwing money away.

I disagree with the horse / car metaphor. Each platform is different, radio or TV is a better metaphor for still being popular but different. I highly doubt PCs will be relegated to a novelty few dozen in a cities.

It's a weird system, in Australia we all get a standard score on leaving high school and if your score is higher than the next person choosing your degree preference you win the spot. Different for medicine only AFAIK.
