Worked for me (glibc 2.40)! I'm honestly surprised (and impressed). Every time I've tried to statically compile a major glib project like X11, the answer the internet has given back is "don't do it". In terms of pra

I tend to use git submodules to vendor into ./lib. It's rather clunky to work with, but once you know a couple commands it works pretty well. As a bonus, GitHub pages recursively clones submodules automatically. If you're usi

I mostly use Golang, but you could do Python or NodeJS if you wanted. I would probably prefer Deno since node's HTTP functionality is a bit low level. Getting all the way to 0 dependencies can be tough depending on what you're bui

As far as I know, TUI is the only way to build a statically linked app that can be controlled with a mouse. If you're running in a terminal that supports sixel, that covers a huge class of apps. And you get lots of bonuses like excelle

Creating an app is one thing. What I want to know is what's the update experience like 3 years later when I haven't touched the code in forever and I'm getting a flood of dependabot notifications about critical vulnerabilitie

I'm not aware of any such libary for Go. Besides, I prefer protocols that are simple enough to implement myself. That's not feasible in every case, but it certainly is for the social media use case.

One one feature is that tuplates.py can update itself since it works with URLs as well. I forgot I have an example from a production site ( https://lastlogin.net ) if you're interested in seeing it in action: https:/&#x

There's simply not enough demand. ISPs can solve their IP problems with NAT. Web services can solve theirs with SNI routing. The only people who really need IPv6 are self hosters.

Ah, FeatherPub is in a google doc. That explains why I was having trouble googling it last night. Also, there's a conversation happening about Versia today: https://social.coop/@smallcircles/113105954469059880

I'm sorry but JSON-LD is a massive pain to work with in statically typed languages. Certainly is in Go at least. The flexibility is the problem, ie you never know if something is going to be an object or an IRI (did we really need a 3r

The important milestone is when it's safe to turn IPv4 off. And that's not going to happen as long as any country hasn't fully adopted it, and I don't think that's ever going to happen. For better or worse NAT handl

I've seen m4 for stuff like this in the past, but it always looks so archaic and confusing that I never made it very far. Maybe I just need to force myself through a tutorial or something. The main difference between tuplates and what

Currently chewing my way laboriously through RFC9000. Definitely concerned by how complex it is. The high level ideas of QUIC seem fairly straight forward, but the spec feels full of edge cases you must account for. Maybe there's no ot

Ditching head of line blocking is potentially a big win, but I really wish it wouldn't have come with so much complexity.

Has anyone played around with ATProto yet? ActivityPub is pretty easy to get started with, especially if you just ignore JSON-LD and parse what you see. I'm curious how ATProto compares.

What's your opinion on EDR in general? I find it very distasteful from a privacy perspective, but obviously it could be beneficial at scale. I just wish there was a better middle ground.

Most of my web projects these days are vanilla. I'd been dabbling on simple things for years, but it took a big leap a few months ago when I discovered Web Components are still a thing and have come a long way since 2012. We're

What's a situation where you would need multiple redirect domains? I generally work with small scale stuff.

If you're in a situation where you would otherwise be using the implicit flow, can't you just throw the refresh token away? That should approximate the implicit flow.

Does that count as an open redirect? It gives a big fat declaration where you're coming from and where you're going to, and requires the user to choose. I agree some nonzero number of users would click to continue when they should

Great points. This is one reason I think it's important to build on protocols. It's attempt to "lock things open" and foster competition from the beginning. For example, my product TakingNames[0] builds on a simple, open
