Interestingly, the NeuroMechFly project [1] already exists, so integrating the two together may already be under way. At 50 million synapses, a modest gaming PC should be able to run the simulation. I wonder what people will think once they

I got it to make a tiny FORTH model in python. It failed pretty hard when trying to make a Lisp, though.

What if people who come up with particularly effective solutions are awarded a bonus? That could put back some of the incentive.

I think you may be overestimating the complexity. The better idea is to set up and experiment with different simulation parameters, and see how far they diverge from actual observed behavior.

You can do all that with humans too, perhaps less ethically.

I can attest to 40 year old floppies stored in a barn as a viable storage mechanism. I was able to retrieve almost all of the code that I wrote in my childhood this way. I had no idea that those old Apple 2 and Commodore 64 disks would actu

Rather than getting into that debate, it's probably more practical and efficent to just create a new verified dataset.

So, if I get this right, the main issue that the artists have is that these AI's are trained on art that they haven't opted in to the dataset? What about having a dataset that was verified selected from public domain or creative c

I'm impressed. this is the first critique I've seen that actually engages with the topic in a fair way. As of now, there's been just way too much noise to get to the detail of what exactly is wrong with AI art. As for me, I j
