In my experience in the post tariff world, it’s likely a flat out lie. You will order and get a delivery update 12 hours later that says your item will arrive on time only to be updated a few hours later with a delivery window of 3-5 weeks

YouTube immediately pointed fingers at creators by saying that certain audiences are more likely to use ad blockers. :)

There are a lot of people who only care about how much leveraging AI will net them personally, very little thought is being given to the efficacy of current LLMs beyond this for many folks.

It’s also fascinating to me that people who want their feelings to be facts lean in to conservative politics in the country I reside in.

I think some of the “hate” is the hype. We’re all tired of companies announcing ground breaking tech that isn’t readily available a decade later. I don’t live in California (like most of the population of the planet) - Toronto for 18 years

I wrote a couple python scripts this week to help me with a midi integration project (3 devices with different cable types) and for quick debugging if something fails (yes, I know there are tools out there that do this but I like learning).

Agreed. Why aren’t capital gains taxed at a higher rate than income? (Please don’t give me bullshit answers based on hundred year old economic theories just because you’re a wanna be libertarian)

I tried that a few months ago. Just wanted a static site to replace an old WP site. It was a total disappointment. I’m not invested enough to do a write up but I tried 3 LLM models and multiple services and all I got was a bunch of depende

My partner bakes. I don't, and the primary reason is that I am a very good cook, but I don't really measure. Baking is all science-y and requires measuring. (If I were to be completely honest, probably right up there with measurin

I think of current state LLMs as precocious but green assistants that are sometimes useful but often screw up. It requires a significant amount of hand holding, still usually a net positive in my workflow but only (arbitrarily) a modest pro

This matches my experience as well. One unexpected benefit is that I learned a couple pieces of hardware inside and out because LLMs make so many mistakes. If I wouldn’t have used an LLM I wouldn’t have gone down all these rabbit holes base

So maybe the truth is somewhere in between - there is no way AI is not going to have a major societal impact - like social media. If we don't see some serious fencing, I will not be surprised by some spectacular AI-caused failures in t

Funny, you sound a lot like me. And for the record, in addition to my tech "day" job, I work in a live music venue, and a lot of the work is physical labour so I am exposed to both of the paradigms every day. I also own a tractor

It's not that I couldn't contribute to a 401k/RRSP that year, it's that I needed the cash for downpayment/repairs. You can take a loan from your RRSP for a downpayment, but only on your first home purchase. (I was a

If I wanted to game my stock price and mislead my competition, a bunch of highly specific (and fraudulent) job postings on my website (in combination with other investor-adjacent reporting) would be a great low cost start.

Fair, but I guess I meant if I am moving tables around and someone asks me a question and I pause and answer I lose 10 seconds. If I’m deep in a much more complex problem I get a little derailed and almost have to start over.
