Well, it's only a few PB a year. But, I'll say that 20 TB is the higher bound per day. It's seasonal, and maybe the average is 10 TB per day. Personally, I've found the best results with bZip2. But, we use LZO and LZ4

Note: very few, if any, of these examples failed because someone on the team didn't pass a coding test. Next time you interview someone remember: bad code could bring your project down, but there are 9 other factors that are more like

Just a pro tip: you don't want to use GZip since it can't be split, and if you want to parallelize effectively you need to split... that is, unless you're dealing with many small files (<100MB), in which case your cloud st

Also, the Bay Area isn't your only option, if you're willing to move. DC area salaries are up a lot this year. I've had six recruiters in the last two weeks sell me on jobs in the 175-200k range. Plus, Northern Virginia is

I think the author may be missing out on some of the areas of the country where this is happening. For instance, many places aleady have 'de-regulated' markets for energy. See FERC 888 & 889 [1]. And, states like Pennsylvani

I would add that currency needs to be convenient, as well. There's no way that I'm going to lug around a block of gold, a scale, and snips when I have a credit card.

That's assuming that they need their money back. The way I understand it is that there's a glut of money, and the rich are just piling it up and moving it around to where ever the best return seems to be.

Doubtful - if global investors aren't putting their money into stocks, they'll just continue to buy up real estate.

One of the biggest issues with illicit drugs is that you never know what you're getting. There's no quality control. Even your usual dealer may not know what they have. There are people that I know who won't eat beef unless

This is very cool. Thank you for doing the work. I hope that someday there's something similar for asynchronous group communication as well as synchronous. Something like Usenet v2.

Gangs aren't such a bad thing. I would say that I belonged to one, and I turned out all right. Gangs provide a lot of opportunity for creativity, problem solving, strategy and tactics, self management, financial management, and leaders

I had to look up Terman and SMPY [1]. I scanned it, and it seems to suggest that IQ 'is kind of bunk' - that it's more effective to evaluate mathematical reasoning, alone. But, what I find more interesting is that not all mat
