Professional Photoshop users already have existing hardware. This is trying to fill the gap that none (afaik) of the existing hardware offerings support Linux. Also, if you really care, they say they'll ship a Linux Live CD with the device.

I do have the v1.28 BIOS. And I think I did try that and all the other options I possibly could when I first got this laptop. I've just settled for the loud fan. Anyway, I'm going to upgrade to the new release and see what that brings!

I have the 3810T too and I can report similar numbers. But still, I get more life when I boot into Windows. Moreover, suspend & hibernate just don't work & the laptop fan always stays on. It could be a buggy BIOS for all I know but

I guess the issue is that making thread-safe GUIs is incredibly hard. So all GUI frameworks require you to update the GUI state only in the 'GUI thread'. Which means we use hacks like 'runOnMainThread', etc. to update the GUI. A saner way i

I don't get this argument. If I replace my memcache logic with an in-memory thread-safe hashmap, it will always be faster. I can't see how it can be slow. As for 'simpler', as long as you aren't actually implementing the thread safe map, it

This reminds me of something that happened here in Singapore not too long ago. The government had big plans of reviving the downtown area with lots of new developments, including the new casinos. As part of this makeover, they thought the t

Not really, if you enable multi-threaded request handling. While one thread/request is waiting for IO/network to complete, other threads are still handling requests. All in the same instance.

Go isn't going to help at least in the near term. Concurrent request handling is not supported on Go. Nor do they have it on their roadmap, AFAIK.
