Unfortunately we clearly can't trust even your breaking news -- as evidenced by the referenced article -- until it's validated by a more reputable source.

Clearly you didn't read it closely enough. They were worse off for the lack of an affordable water supply leading to a lack of sanitation and epidemic. The inefficient private solution stayed the adoption of a publicly administered one.

But we would never know as long as the government enforced the coercive monopoly. This is a one-sided description and a false dichotomy. A non-regulated natural monopoly can be just as suppressive as a government enforced-coercive monopol

Monopoly? Last I checked there were multiple competing mobile carriers. You do have to put a lot of capital at risk though to be a national carrier. Which is exactly the point, really. Someone put a lot of capital at risk, and now that the

There is nothing natural about a monopoly (or in this case, oligopoly) ordained by government. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_monopoly And that is the problem that should be addressed directly. Current government policies create

This can't end well. At the end of the day, Apple and AT&T have the right (or should have the right) to make any agreements they find necessary ... So can I have the right to broadcast my own GSM signal in the 900 MHz range, or a perp

Linux is only a reasonable desktop if you're only spending your time in a terminal, using emacs/vi/eclipse/netbeans/etc. Before moving to Mac OS X from Linux/BSD desktops, I failed to appreciate the value of polished, non-developer software

I think this explains the (predictably) irrational hatred for the GPL; it makes doors close, and that is something we are apparently hard-wired to hate. Even though we know we are never going to make our free app proprietary, we want that

Apple doesn't use stock icons for their product icons, and the Xcode icon has been in use in similar forms since 2003.

The icons are almost exact clones of Apple's -- the differences are so minor that I didn't notice them when actually looking at the applications in my dock. The Xcode icon, for instance, appears identical barring the reversal of the hammer.

Using Apple's Xcode and Dictionary icons in the banner of the RethinkDB website looks pretty skeevy. It's hard to do by accident, and beyond violating Apple's copyright, it doesn't place your company in a good light. I wouldn't bother comme
