On the designer front I can think of Entity Framework designer and WWF designer, Build Template designer (or however this thing from TFS is called?) and possibly a couple more. My biggest gripe are all kinds of wizards, most notably "N

It's not necessarily "monkeys", but, disturbingly, Microsoft developer tools are becoming more and more oriented towards "wizard-and-designer-clickety-clickery" type development. There are a few exceptions to this r

Amen. This can "kinda" be worked around with "heat.exe" (don't get me started on naming of tools in the toolchain), but even then you'll need to explicitly specify half a dozen command-line arguments (-ag -dr -

Don't mean to sound like an ass, but oh really? WiX is a thin wrapper around MSI (which sucks beyond belief) and as such it suffers full blast from all the "design" decisions of the latter, not even trying to remedy the situa

Yeah, because I really want to spend hours upon hours studying obscure incantations that someone decided to be making sense. WiX (and MSI, for that matter) is a disaster.

Yeah, I get that a lot. Theoretically, this is possible by supporting Mono and switching to PostgreSQL/MySQL. Practically, given my limited resources, this is not something I will be able to do in the nearest future.

John Siracusa had a epic rant on that exact topic on ATP #25 ( http://atp.fm/ ). I myself was baffled to find out that modding involves unpacking a JAR file, overwriting .class files with modded ones and packing the whole t

Two questions. 1. Why bother with two SVN repos? 2. Any specific reason for SVN at all (large files, binary files, non-technical users)

Exhibit A: Yet another proof for having three obligatory pieces of software for every beginning programmer: an ORM, a blog engine and a CMS. On a more serious note, FluentData is a wheel reinvented, square. PetaPoco anyone?

Oh what a piece of BS. Yet another shallow, mechanical comparison of tiny "features" and IDE peculiarities with no other purpose in life other than initiating a decade-old flamewar. And comparing "&&" and "and"? Really?
