I've always seen jQuery as an additional layer to handle browsers' API inconsistencies. If browsers you need to support have consistent APIs now - there is no reason left for adding this layer to new projects anymore.

Yes "document.querySelectorAll(selector)" is a bit verbose, but jQuery API is no better, do you know what would "$(selector)" actually do? You can't - it depends on what "selector" is.

So does this effectively mean - only create tables and add columns in your db schema migrations (no updating and removing)?

It used to be the issue in the "old browsers", modern browsers optimize the css query selectors to a very high extent, so users probably won't see a difference on any real web page / app

There is one gotcha with native/custom alert messages like these: native alerts block the ui thread of a browser, while custom do not. Sometimes you want to block and sometimes you don't. When you don't - you need something n

Is this rent price for an apartment in the center that you can find within one week? Most european cities' centers are significantly more expensive than suburbs/country side. $250 is suspiciously cheap

Could the solution be faster delivering from IT? Amazon is capable of delivering changes to it's core apps as fast as "one change per every 11 seconds". An average corporation nowadays delivers a bulk of changes per every 3

But isn't it because in the enterprise projects JavaScript code is written by Java/C# developers who think they know JavaScript, while they really don't? I've seen multiple examples of "enterpisey" web apps, an

Well yes, Require.JS is not strictly speaking a dependency injector (however you can use it as one), but underlying AMD pattern is a very good example of IoC. And this allows all kinds of interesting stuff to do with your codebase - for exa

What i would add to this: this tool has to be command-line tool. Ideally: declare the names of the icons you are using in some sort of a config file and build a font/svgs/images for all of them

Angular + Bootstrap = use Angular UI Bootstrap. For Coffee use on-the-fly transcompilation of your choice (i.e. grunt-contrib-coffee + grunt-contrib-watch). For any of higher-level templating again use on-the-fly compilation (i.e. grunt-ham

Well the most disturbing thing about this syntax is for sure the use of parentheses. Drop them and you will get old good ng-click="doSomething" which doesn't differ at all from class="ng-doSomething" or data-ng-click="doSomething". But pare

Isn't it exactly a thing in which Java failed about a decade ago? Apps running in a VM using GUI toolkit instead of DOM, delivered right into your browser window? What could be better? Well it's proved to be a total failure on the web.

Nice story. Pushkin, the author of "The Queen of Spades" actually gave an initial idea of "Dead Souls" to Gogol. Without knowing that (which the author didn't know) it is really very interesting how the first story reminded of another novel

Well, after all when you get your modular components you still need some piece of code to make them work together. It's not like you throw them into your project and they magically become an application.
