My vague memories of DP are centered around the custom ranges for cycling through color palettes. A talented artist could make simple animated scenes.

I wouldn't describe software as most people experience it as more complex. And civil engineering projects are constantly fixing unforeseen design problems either during construction or afterwards. I would distinguish the failure modes

Yeah I thought of that one, but still reckon DevOps goes well past it.

I don't know of any other term in tech that people experience in so many different often contradictory ways that causes people to talk past each other because they're all talking about different things or been places that work so

I have a 13yr old 27" Ultrasharp still going well. +1 to only buy Ultrasharp if buying from Dell. The others can be junk.

In 2011 I would've had trouble believing there could be a trillion dollar AI company, but that if there was such a company I could almost expect they would make such an asinine statement.

Yup, knew that equation. My point was I only ever recalled the effects of gravity on mass being called a force, and never gravity itself being called a force. eg no mass, no force - gravity being a field that causes forces (on mass) rather

My physics is very rusty and very basic, but I don't think classical physics said gravity was a force either. eg in Newton's 2nd law or engineering mechanics, gravity is the "a" or the "g" not the "F"

The last short lived generation of VCR we owned had an on screen menu/UI driven by the remote control for setting time and programming a scheduled recording rather than arcane and tedious sequences of button presses. I was surprised th

I think that is normal across most technologies or fields. Progress is an S curve (or series of curves), and it's easy to be amazed when looking at the steep bit. Early on progress is slow due to not much investment and going down lots
