Possibly, although I imagine any kind of 32bit (or 64bit) assembly on top of an OS is likely to not have that 8bit fun factor.

I recently did a similar thing with a Spectrum emulator and zasm. As I kid I completely failed to teach myself Z80 machine code, but trying again now with way better tooling it was surprisingly easy and a whole lot of fun. I actually enjoye

Caring about and fixing inefficient wasteful tests. Stops CI build queues clogging up. Also, improving production performance/scalability. And making apps simple to deploy. That's about it for me :)

Wellington isn't 500km away :) It looks like the quoted epicentre was just the start point of the rupture that headed off to the northeast. Which explains why the shaking seemed worse to the north and why so much activity seems to be r

For context there was about 2mins of shaking :) The longest quake I've ever felt too. Some seismologists are speculating that it might actually have been two distinct quakes happening at roughly the same time.

The flat bit in the middle that is most of the Miramar suburb is seabed (and later swamp) that has been uplifted by large earthquakes over time.

There was a seismologist talking about that this morning. There is an effect that correlates with lunar cycles, but it is a very faint signal in a lot of random noise. So it might cause some faults that are about to rupture to release a bit

Currently in Wellington. Was fucking shaky, seriously thought the building was about to collapse. This was ~500 km from the epicenter. ~200km? Also in Wellington, and it's work from home day today here while engineers check the build

Building KDE 1.0 (or was it 1.1?) from source on Redhat 5.1 was the first ever major thing I did with *nix - I barely understood anything about Linux or building software at the time. I was so amazed that I even got it working. My old Penti

I reckon it was a combination of Github and Rails being early adopters at the peak growth of their hype cycle. In the early days of Github it seemed like most of the projects there were Ruby based (Rails users overflowing).
