You seem to be picking very narrow but randomly arbitrary things to compare both countries with, or making wild assumptions about what others would use to compare them on. How about an overall view of broader things like human rights, corru

You can't think of any other reasons apart from racism why people would think differently of Saudi Arabia vs Norway?

There's dynamic typing, but then there's also all the extra stuff like mutable global state, gratuitous monkey patching, fad following, overindulgence in complicated implementation cleverness just to make interfaces more elegant e

Yeah it was slashdot that sent me to the embryonic Ars to find out all about Pentium2 (or was it 3?) architectures, BeOS, and this new-fangled unstable unixy MacOS in beta etc.

As someone who has been using Python since 2000 roughly, another minor factor (besides the obvious data science factors) might also be the decline in Ruby. Ruby (and Rails) growth in the 2005-2010 era, seemed to noticeably put the brakes on

I find that npr article on marketing being the reason for the drop in girls doing College CS overstates it and is a bit unconvincing. I took up computing during the 80s as a kid in a small country that had no real computer marketing (or eve
