Yes, it has been done with ESP8266, it can produce shitty audio by itself and when the sender is close to the device with no interference - otherwise you need a dedicated DAC and it can be used as a simple webradio with mono audio output de

Right now the same power source, a simple adapter/transformer, is powering both. Thats the easy way, this solar pad way is just because it would be fun.

That is so awesome, thanks for this idea! What Im using esp8266 for, is to control a strip of those ws2812b led lights, the chip will not need much energy, only sporadically to change light colors or on/off, so if I place that solar pa

The toolchain is as good as for ARM, it is gcc no more no less. You perhaps mean the original SDK which was based on proprietary blobs and sucked. See it here, the good one, https://github.com/pfalcon/esp-open-sdk

What chip would you recommend to do IoT which can run on harvested energy? What would be the upper limit which harvested energy could deliver? Do you mean solar cells or harvesting microwaves from satellites, I could get about 1.5V or so fr

What you define as ton of data for a consumer drive is your opinion only, there are many customers who do video editing work and really want/need the disks they buy to fulfill their stated technical specifications of write speed. Samsu
