Today, I am one of the Ten Thousand [1] that learned you can make croissants with olive oil. Thank you for that! I've always assumed the laminated dough required solid fats, but apparently any layering of fat and flour can make flaky g

I am not aware of what abilities Electron offers that is lacking in Emacs. Can you give a couple of examples? There's little you can't do with Emacs given it's a small C core running a Lisp interpreter and both the Lisp code

I don't think it's better than org-mode, but org-mode is also post-2000 so doesn't count here. Obsidian isn't open source, isn't plain text enough, and is slow. Markdown also falls outside the pre-2000 window as wel

Yes, you don't want to under spend on your tools to the point where you suffer. But, I think you are missing the flip side. I can do my work comfortably with 32GB RAM, but my 1% a year budget could get me more. But, why not pocket it.

Right, but not all, which is what makes unplugging your mouse from Windows painful. On Linux, I often forget to plug my mouse in and only notice when I want to play a game or something.

If I only store passwords in Bitwarden, not TOTP tokens, then I don't have to pay for it. So, it's an argument for spending less money while being more secure.

It's an opt-out of an opt-in. If you run a webserver hosting your files, you already opted-in to people accessing that data. If you then don't go ahead an configure it properly, that's not exactly "opt-out" anymore.
