I hate these. Who wouldn't. Firefox: View/Page Style/No Style turns the page into plain, readable text. Think of all the effort someone went through, to take perfectly good content and deface it.

Despite the vague "stickin' it to the man, we're all in this together" vibe (which I like), I'll note that his T&C is ten browser page-downs worth of text. Which is fine ...

It must have gotten to the point by now that the mere length of a privacy policy, or EULA, is enough to convince the court that there effectively is no policy or no agreement, signed, seal broken or not.

An OTA broadcast-based model [for TV] was a bit stronger than a fad. What was it that made it old-fashioned and bereft of really interesting content? Oh yeah, HBO and its ilk. It always amazes me when dictators who succeed via coup d'état t

I wouldn't say absurd. Certainly you can use C functions in C++. But if you want to eliminate the use of most or all C++-only features, the only way to guarantee that is to not use C++. White or blacklists can be circumvented, intentionally

Haven't read through it, but it definitely looks like it was inspired by the FreeBSD Handbook, and aspires to it. I'm glad it's out, I'll need something like this when I eventually move from Ubuntu to Debian.

"The right way" is not always enforced by the language. It's often just conventions agreed to by the dominant community. "Pythonic" is a word that you'll hear a lot, if you haven't already.

Python has less syntactic sugar: semi colon-terminated statements, braces, etc. It doesn't make Python "better," but to a newb, the less the better. If less comes in a real language, so much the better. Variable declarations ... you could g
