That attitude leads to devaluing software, followed by bugs, a legacy codebase and not being able to extend your software when your competitors catch up. Programs and the problems that they solve are intertwined. You can't easily separate

I think you're being a bit free with the metaphors here. A blueprint isn't a finished deliverable if you want something that you can actually use. Code, on the other hand, mixes design and building - if you delete the code, what are you lef

You're both arguing opposite ends of the same thing. Good abstractions are more work for the implementer, and less work for the developer using it. The phrase you're looking for is "Conservation of complexity" :)

Good programmers hate programming? That's an over generalisation if ever I've heard one. To be a good programmer, among other things, you need to love good code, and hate bad code. Good code is short, neat and to the point, is well tested a

For your next lot of tables, you might want to consider rounding the table tops slightly too. That way they don't dig into your wrists quite so much - plus they'll match the legs.

Actual desk tops are much more expensive, around 2x the price for an equivalent area: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/wor... I'm not sure about the whole rounding the legs off thing, but if you're going to make 20

At this point it's top of page 3. Normally when mods kill it, it just disappears. I suspect in this case the overt marketing and reubenelli's whiny, entitled tone are encouraging people to flag it. It's only at 8 points, so I doubt it takes

Thanks for the bug report on the paths. I was relying on os.path to generate the urls, which obviously doesn't work on Windows or Mac. The rest of your issues seem to be with the template - you're free to develop your own if you don't like

Is this where I point out that this happens all the time, even on HN? And you very rarely hear about it? One of my submissions got flagged by the mods last night, I'm assuming purely because my project is called "Shithead". (Am I going to c

Interesting, but you might get better mileage out of a teensy arduino ( http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/ ) a tin, and some proper foot switches.

Because they're too complicated! If I want to get started with them, or extend them, there's a large learning curve. For example, take a look at https://github.com/lakshmivyas/hyde/blob/master/hydeengine/f... or https://github.com/borism

Or, you know, just use regular links. That part of the site isn't a web app, it's just a regular web page. Why make things more complicated than they have to be? edit: Particularly when I just tried it at home in Chrome, and it ended up at
