I think like C, there's standard/ANS Forth. But most likely lots of those Forth coders implement their own which don't necessarily conform to the standard.

I use this as Sublime replacement on my macOS. So far happy with it. Only use it as a general purpose text editor. Okay, I may ocassionally do some code editing on it. But most of the time it's gotta be VSCode or vim/nvim.

For everyday use (e.g work), I use Huawei smartwatch, or something affordable like Seiko 5 when in the mood for mechanical watch. Yep, using one doesn't automatically preclude the other.

I'm pretty sure LaTeX can do all the documents I want to, e.g anything with complicated math expressions, various pseudocodes, computer science-y diagrams like karnaugh map, algorithm flowchart etc etc. Of course, it's not all r

How to build the OS? I'm on macOS with zig 0.15.1 installed. `zig build` gave me this: /Users/anta40/Lab/OSDev/OS-1000-lines-zig/build.zig.zon:9:13: error: expected enum literal .name = "zoros&quo

Yep me too. I tend to "see" in that focal length, when 50mm is not tight enough. But probably that's an old habit: a few years ago my 1st DSLR was an APSC, and naturally my 1st prime like everyone else was the cheap-but-good

Looks awesome. Consider it bookmarked. I'm on macOS, and still no luck building the code. But anything which doesn't involve building a custom GCC easily gets my vote :)

Who told that? I still hear K&R being recommended as introduction material. If you want to write portable/production-grade C code, well definitely need to study another references.

Last time I tried (perhaps 4 years ago?), it works on 64-bit Linux. But you still need to install 32-bit compatibility libs. On macOS, well sadly it's still 32-bit. Not sure how many folks are still using Mojave...

Ah yes I forgot to mention both tools are also still under active development. I mostly use JWASM to compile samples from old MASM books/tutorials.

For those looking for modern MASM-compatible assembler, try JWasm: https://github.com/JWasm/JWasm It's a fork of OpenWatcom assembler.

You may consider Nim as a sort of "compiled Python" with some Pascal influences. https://nimble.directory/ I'd pick Nim if my concern is general app development, not specifically system programming.

For me, the some of biggest annoying about mobile app development is how the dev environment is space/RAM hungry: - gradle folder easily reach 7 or 8 gigs per project (more external dependencies = bigger) - Android/iOS emulator al
