I'm on Monterey 12.6.9, and confirm can run the latest FASM. Current problem is how to configure the include path so I can build programs. On Windows it's very easy: check "Environment Variables", create an "INCLUD

If I'm not mistaken, both are written in FASM (Flat Assembler). And unfortunately FASM won't run in recent MacOSes because it's a 32-bit app. No problem with Windows/Linux, though.

Ahh... I remember old docs from my dad office. You'll see "Tipp-Ex" (correction fluid) used here and there to hide thse typos. Hey, for the sake of fun, maybe I should try this again. I think I still have a typewriter stored

I still remember learning to use typwriter in 1998/1999 (already knew some computer basics). Correcting typos wasn't particularly fun.

After skimming the TOC a few times, I guess the more accurate title is "Computer Architecture from the Bottom Up". I don't see any math model like lambda calculus or Turing machine mentioned one it.

Hmm I wonder if each person has a different criteria of "enough". I see xv6 as playground for students to implement basic concepts like filesystem, scheduler, etc. And it provides userspace so they can easily test their implementa

No idea how to do it on ARM MacOS, I'm still on Intel. Here's how to built it (had some discussions with the author on Twitter): https://gist.github.com/anta40/4625d6a2752551aada9c91a72e787... Done. Will try

One thing I really like about rxv64 is pretty easy to be built on MacOS, without having to built a custom GCC, like the original xv6. Of course, there are other various "Rust xv6" forks and unfortunately they won't compile wi

If you avoid some high end, collector models like Contax T3, Nikon 35Ti, etc... yeah I get it. On second thought, I just realised compact FF bodies like Sony RX1 is still a bit expensive.

Film photography, for me, is the most affordable way to get into medium/large format photography. Not really excited with 35mm because full frame bodies are getting more affordable. On the other hand, the price of used GFX (50S, 50R) b

Practically all mobile app devs are aware of that: we use Macs because unlike Google, Apple don't provide iOS SDK for non-Mac OSes. After some years using Mac, I kinda like it. But still prefer Linux whenever possible.
