Well you know, Germans are ruthless optimizers. They just tend to optimize for the wrong objective functions, and the wrong constraints. Also the wrong time frames.

So all about 1g co2 per search. Compare to 150–200g per km of driving. Id say replace one car trip this year with bicycling, and you’ll be good to use Google.

1000$ update for 32 inch screen. I guess for a a MacBook that would be like a 150$ upgrade, too bad it doesn’t seem to exist

What I wonder is, how do you raise 100M before launch? Like, they can’t possibly have a 100M valuation. So do they just dilute like crazy or what? (I guess Tesla was largely funded by Musk kn the beginning, but I doubt that’s the standard)

Next door to me, Spotify rented out a whole building, for I‘d guess 25-30€/m^2. they’re only using a fraction now. I wonder whether they’d sublet a bunch of rooms to my startup…

If you put 10 passengers in one fancy business railcar, it will cost 50c/km and reduce greenhouse emissions relative to flying by half rather than by a factor of ten. Night/hotel trains only make sense with decent density.

I bet they run a useful service. But their post doesn’t really speak well to people who don’t already use the service, because it doesn’t define the used names (e.g. it’s only implied that the service is a VPN, why not just say it up front)

Yeah, sounds like a bunch of tech gobbledigook. I guess it’s written for the users of these services, and they know what all this jargon means.

What matters is per capita emissions, not some arbitrary measure based on how borders happen to have been drawn hundreds of years ago. A small country like Kuwait, or the US (relative to China) cant just pretend not to be part of the proble

Going by the numbers, and using this logic, China should be bombing the US.

If one really wants to read the content while also respecting the wishes of the author, perhaps it would be possible to steam roll the hard drive and then forensically extract the data. The alternative would be to shoot the drive into space

Apple is full of weird choices that are off-putting to newcomers, intrusive ads, bugs. For some reason in German, they use a non-standard keyboard layout and they don't sell a standard one. But it's still better than Windows. I ju

I find that attitude strange, like risk-averse. It sounds like a hobby, not like a startup company. Such a venture (Kleingewerbe) is effectively a sole proprietorship, meaning no separation of liability, probably no employees, no capital th
