Not the OP, but if it is big enough, common tasks such as 'git status' can take seconds to complete, which is annoying. That said, I won't be using git submodules again on another project, it was a bit cumbersome for my taste

Frankly, it is not just India, but, well, most of the hemisphere. Traffic is nuts, and drivers are nuts across most of the area (China, India, SE Asia, Russia), except for maybe Japan. Its not a race thing, but maybe it is a culture thing.

That's very interesting. I'm imagining different kinds of 3-D visualizations that would usefully show the current state of the diagnosis, with the reported symptoms, test results, current theories, timeline and more.

Sounds like we need to make data capture going into the charts much more slick and smooth. I'm thinking of a voice-driven personal assistant using the latest in AI. So you can just tell it what you're doing, and what you're

For desktop Linux, SELinux is indeed difficult to use on a day-to-day basis. To the point that there's no way I'd consider using it. However, it is working great for Android. Where all apps are already sandboxed, and you don&#x2

It is handy, if you are setting up the system for someone else. You can always delete the user account you created at install time too, after you have set up the root account with a password.

So then just don't create your main user account at install time. I'm usually creating an 'admin' user at that point anyway. The main thing to watch out for is to add new users appropriately to some system groups like s

I don't understand... If you've got the requisite ecryptfs packages installed, you can just run something like: "adduser --encrypt-home newusername" and there you go. It works on top of any filesystem, because it encryp

In addition to what Yev has said, I'd say: You don't have backups, unless you can do restores. So you have to practice doing restores. For my servers at work, we're using btrfs snapshots and send/receive to the backup h

If you have already adapted to Docker, then I'm sure you don't want to use LXC. Containers are long-lived and mutable. I treat them like old school servers, just not tied to physical hardware.

No, I don't think so. I'm a small-time admin, and I think that btrfs is working pretty good these days. We have recently switched all our servers to LXC containers so that we can take full advantage of btrfs features. I doubt I n

I don't know that you would be happy trying to store blobs of that size in any distributed database, current or future. I'd suggest having an immutable distributed blob store, and just store the index in the distributed database.

Backups are good. More frequent backups are even better. I have btrfs snapshots run on the fileservers at 10 minute intervals. Which, of course, captures the entire filesystem state, not just files that you have deleted by accident.
