It is called Generalised Hough Transform [0] (google and wiki also know it), the problem is, even circle space is 3-dimensional (x, y, r), and therefore cannot be computed faster than O(n³). Even that cannot be achieved without some magic s

Yet still no mention of the Fast Hough Transform. Not the randomized approximate one, but fast as in FFT, n²log n fast. We've been using it a lot in, e.g. the automatic vehicle classifier [0, 1]. It has been recently contributed to Ope

Cannot imagine him being sarcastic: around 8gb free out of 16, compared to 1-2gb free previously. 1-2gb only left is something that greatly lowers the quality of developer time.

Newer Word versions have this Collaborative Mode (available through Office 365) which behaves like Google Docs, except you work in a full-featured word processor. With it you can edit in real-time via both Desktop and Web versions.

I really find Python harder to master than C++: in C++ you sometimes have to grapple with syntax and development tools, but after it's resolved, your program works predictably, just don't forget to enable debug symbols and core du

Procedural programming usually does not include the use of higher-order functions, and "function-oriented" here seems proper for Lisp and some styles of Python, with their heavy use of filter/map/apply/parallel-map-

That's in the US. In other countries things may be more secure. In Russia I barely can make any changes by phone because they verify so much info. Forwarding will certainly require an in-person visit to the carrier office. So I guess i

Fixed-width serif is exactly what I wanted! It's refreshing to be able to switch from serif to sans-serif, I do that on my Kindle about once a month and the text immediately becomes less boring.

Good suggestions, might use myself. Also, my favorite rule is 'discard emails with empty subject'. I'm teaching an university class, and the younger generation seems to not understand the ethics of email.

Russia/Moscow: 50/50, $8/mo, there are better deals available. And compared to many other services, good internet access isn't limited to a handful central cities here. Heavy competition between providers.

Detecting a round yellow object is harder than you might think: think of all weird illumination and white balance settings the camera may have, the yellow might as well turn green or pink. Detecting the logo is probably easier especially fo

For this case it'd be justified (it even has lambdas!). TMP is great for data-centric code though, like math algorithms or data structure definitions with optimizations conditional on type traits.

γ-correct scaling is good, but will GIMP support area-downscaling? I.e. if you downscale three times, you average each three (or 3×3 if both axes) pixels, not choose any one of them. Currently you get moire patterns, and "interpolati

Enough has been said about incorrect gamma (this and [0]), now I think it's high time to bash the software of the world for incorrect downscaling (e.g. [1]). It has much more visible effects, and has real consequences for computer visi
