You seem to have redacted your comment - but if I recall correctly your suggestion was to go ahead and evangelize but asserted that I would fail because I mentioned "shock and fear tactics"?

I think you missed the point of the comment... "fear and shock tactics" have been applied to me wrt climate change, vegetarianism, etc. But all they seem to have done is desensitize me. Hence my saying that they do not work. I

To make a dent I suspect becoming a vegetarian isn't enough - you'd have to become an effective-evangelical vegetarian. So, given that fear and shock tactics are failing - how do I convince the world (or a sizeable portion of it)

It's not really enough to read and upvote, but I'm at a loss as to what I can personally can do about this. So in the spirit of the askhn "how would you turn around Twitter" - let's apply the same thinking to this:

Yes exactly. The app specifically affected by Channels API depreciation is a side project that serves a few thousand people. It marches along perfectly well, and I pay Google money for it each month - though the project itself makes no mone

Chiming in as I noticed the change too. For a long time it was almost impossible to speak with a human - every query was directed to the extensive but often useless support pages. If a human did respond it often seemed like they weren'

Not entirely true. App engine depreciations happen all the time and they give about 1 years notice. Most recently the channel api, before that prospective search, backends, etc etc

I did a similar thing recently. Archived my tweets and then deleted them all. Something to note is that archives don't come with local copies of photos/videos, but I found a handy python repo to help with that [1]. [1]: https:

They Keep iPhone app gets updated quite frequently. I suspect that the shut down of Chrome browser external apps for all platforms except Chrome OS in 2018 [1] is probably (part of) the cause for infrequent updates. [1]: http://ww

Not sure if this was your intention, but your comment came off as somewhat snarky - a theme best reserved for reddit. It was not advice - but an observation offered as a data-point. You can indeed meet people that run ultra-marathons withou

It may not appeal but I took up ultramarathons a couple of years ago. On the multi-day ones (e.g. Marathon des Sables) you meet some terrific people with the kind of insanely driven mentality that chewing glass and staring into the abyss de

Totally agreed. I got my degree from a mediocre university. Then went on to get PhD from a top 5 university. I audited a few classes and the difference in student behavior was immediately evident. They freely questioned assertions or topics

I've used f.lux but the problem I find is that if I'm unwinding in the evening watching some youtube / netflix on my laptop the colour shift is quite annoying. By contrast, on my iphone I tend to not need accurate colour repr

Ah, seen. Yes I misunderstood. So despite feeling the strong sense of annoyance, you're still not motivated enough to overcome the AppStore friction.

I think you may be an outlier - people mostly just rate 5 stars and then don't follow through. It's contextual for us to a degree. Our (free) app in effect gives people money and at the end of that transaction if they've not

Yes - that's the one. I've set it for the traditional dark background and green text (as I have for terminal, sublime, etc.). Does wonders for the eyes.

I've installed a firefox plugin that does this - just a few css rules for background color, text colour, etc. It totally ruins all the designy aspects of the web, but it makes reading a lot less tiring for my eyes.

I wonder if the lawyers have a hand in this. Words like "liar" paint a person in a negative light and could lead to a defamation lawsuit. Whereas pointing out that something is a "falsehood" is inviting a comparison of f

It seems Apple logs me out after a period of time (weeks) no matter how much activity they see - it's quite annoying. I often need to re-authenticate to download a new app (irrespective of cost). I always need to re-authenticate to lea

I've done a similar thing, but getting people to review is like pulling teeth. We've tried plenty ways to make this happen: 1. append a footer in the email asking for a review Finding: People ignore it. 2. include custom copy in t
