I see and are these studies public ? Could we see the data and the methodology here ? Thing is there are benchmarks to judge software engineering capability of AI. I am more interested in how the jobless predictions made ? I understand all

I recently read a reddit thread about how somebody made 12M on a stock that IPOd. But yeah the majority opinion is that employees get shafted.

What amazes me is the vile shit directed towards software engineers. Remember that letter from the dickhead investor to Google demanding to know why engineers were paid 450k. Or just PMs beating the drum about how you don't need engine

I am curious, where are these numbers from ?

Pick your top 3 and optimize if you really have to. But if the whole chain is 0.3% here and there, theres very little room for large optimization wins without some redesign.

I mean basically what he's saying is check the impact of your optimization. Every time there's an optimization, theres a complexity and brittleness cost. However sometimes unoptimized code is actually more difficult to read than

Yeah but most of the time you learn a language because it changes your way of thinking. I want to pick OCaml for my next project, almost did. But decided against since Java had an ecosystem, tooling and really good performance.

Cant argue with this one. FP code is so much easier to reason about. I was looking at this more from a practical perspective.

Go is definitely full of these issues. Java has pretty good perf out of the box due to JIT. The libs may be old but they do their jobs really well. Some common ones like Guava are updated as new features become available. Tbh the collection

Is OCaml still worth learning these days ? Feels like plenty of languages are evolving quite well and most things can be done in imperative langs like Go/Java with pretty concise code and certainly better perf.

You'd need a WER comparison to check if it really is no drop in quality. With this trick, there might be trouble if the audio is noisy, and it may. ot always be obvious whether or not to speed up.

So very similar approach to Conformer - convolution head for downsampling and transformer for time dependencies. Hmm, surprising that this idea works across application domains.

I mean I have worked with c++, Python, JS/TS, Java and Scala. The syntax of Rust is a mix of these. Apart from that, borrowing, some pointer work and you're set. Honestly Copilot is pretty good at generating code that you can pick

I actually think rust is very very easy to use to the point where I'd consider using it for scripting. They need to write out more detailed guides on how to do X with Rust though. e.g there's no runtime polymorphism in Rust since

I think these are coordinated posts by Microsoft execs. First their director of product, now this. Its like they're trying to calm the auto coding hype until they catchup and thus keep OpenAI from running away.
