Yes, I got that. So to build a "small" web framework like express.js, one could build a routing layer based on macros (like Phoenix/Elixir or rocket.rs do), plus JSON-serialization (Serde might do it) and a compile-time HTML-

I really want to know if the eventually arising full-blown web framework in rust still can claim "zero cost abstractions", and if this would translate into basically "the most performant/efficient way to write a web-app&

Diving deeper into Rust. It strikes me how this language is exactly what I want in the future. From building Webapps/services (good libs/frameworks will arise) to codify algorithms as efficient as possible, and so on. I have som

I still wonder why i would use Swift in the backend. - elixir/erlang: fault tolerance, scalability, high complexity web apps - Node: npm already has what you need, SSR for SPAs, JS is accessible for frontend guys (sort of) - Golang:

Actually, it is. States/Central Banks can print money as they wish. Go be more exact: printing isn't even necessary, money nowadays is barely more than a replicated database entry.

I think the way vue components are composed is perfectly suited for everyone that comes into the frontend story right now. There is no syntax to learn, except that you can have v-if and v-for in your html elements. A style block contains yo

As someone who went through the complete frontend hype-trains (jquery, backbone, angular, ember, react, all in production): Vue.js 2.0 with single file components is exactly what everyone looks for desperately. - performance: faster than re

The lack of communication from niantic, server issues for weeks and way too shallow "content" is already killing the game. People came for the IP of pokemon on mobile, had fun catching a few of them, realized that the "combat

I can personally confirm above 10x improvements over rails, but can't Share the code :) Depends on what you're doing though. Seems to excel when having low CPU intensive workloads but high traffic pressure from my experience.

I'd say you really should have a look into https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxhTQdcieQE . A really great presentation, including numbers and real world backup data, plus conceptual overviews.

Sure! But this time (tm) it's different. Phoenix is a direct drop-in replacement for rails, with a bunch of strong benefits on top. Getting productive for a rails developer should be 1-2 weeks max, since one already knows how the frame

Some bigger details why phoenix is so fast despite erlang being a "slow" language: - macros: fancy syntax and "magic" can be resolved at compile-time. Less work to do on runtime. - templates: they get handled at compile-
