This is incorrect. (1) Religions are treated no differently than any other non-profit. (2) No non-profit may endorse a particular candidate. They are free to comment on particular issues and policies and referenda. A priest can say 'vo

Prolog is not a theorem prover. Theorem provers are total (I.e. not turing complete)

A theorem prover is a dependently typed functional programming language. If you can generate a term with a particular type then the theorem is true. There is no testing involved.

Go to Silicon Valley VC backed firms. That's my general advice for any sort of tech work that you want to be paid well. Tech is -- overall -- not paid well. In general, most work is not. VCs are rich and the trickle down effect is larg

I mean... no? I've worked on chips for basically my entire career, and I get paid a more than when I briefly worked in web stuff. Not sure where this idea has come from. My previous startup I worked for just got acquired for 10s of bil

I've worked with many people born post-2000 who could write an operating system kernel. Hell, I have one brewing righ now. It's not rocket science. The machine language parsed by the chip is described in exquisite detail in any pr

Exactly. The advent of electriccity was seen as just as much of a threat to everyone as AI is today. The advent of the internet was seen similarly. In each era, those at the forefront of the technology that would fundamentally change the wo

I mean I'm literally a compiler engineer who's worked on dependable systems in the past, and I think this article is a load of crock to be honest. As is usual for many Americans (a great disease in the American mind, IMO), they gr

There is so much more to software than SaaS apps. I do compilers now for new chips. The work environment is so much better. Go for the hard problems always.

No I'm saying a science and engineering fair doesn't really make sense. There's science in engineering, but just any engineering task is not scientific necessarily.

Questions don't need to be new to be science. My brother and I, for example, did an experiment where we tested pH of various water bodies around us. The hypothesis was based off of local drainage patterns. Not a new question... Still s

That's not science then. Just because engineering is equally enigmatic to most people as science doesn't mean they're the same. Science means applying the scientific method. "I hypothesize that method X is the best way t

I've seen this with several friends. One of the issues with tech is that if you make $250k in a good year, you are taxed on that. Whereas if you're then unemployed the next year, you don't get anything back as if you had only
