I used to admin VSS for a team. We had to run a nightly scheduled task to uncorrupt the database. We ended up buying perforce which saved our arses but the days of VSS were dark days indeed.

I know I'm late to reply, but i'm interested. What cool stuff is happening in the node.js community. The only thing I can think of that is really cool is meteor. I think the thing that sucks about node is that javascript sucks.

Well if I were in the market for a new smoke alarm, nest wave was a feature that would steer me towards nest. While i'm sure it's still a decent alarm, this is a pretty big feature to recall.

I'd like to add to this. It's the little things that i like about my macbook pro. The magsafe has saved my laptop several times. Optical audio out makes music so much more enjoyable. The trackpad is easily worth 5x as much as

What are you talking about late 80s? it's still happening with consoles today. On XBox, for example, you need a dev kit. They have a lengthy sign up process, they don't allow students or universities to get one, etc. It costs $$

why not jruby and rails? rails has a lot more of a community, and you'd still get to run it on java.
