I would still call him hacker. 'Bending the rules' is the characteristic of hacker. I would say even 'bending the apparent rules' should also qualify being a hacker. So any genius / inventor having made a disruptive innovation is a hacker.

You can use them to land customers from advertisements. Also, ask google not to index those. Although you wont get any SEO benefit from these pages, your ads will see relevant landing pages and not a single landing page for all ads.

ya, that is a big concern. Maybe calling for help around can be made a paid feature, crying wolf wont pay but someone in need of help can pay. Well you can think of other things also on how to de-incentivize abuse of system. :)

I think its ok. Users wont complain. give them a message that the link has expired just like it is done now. But along with that, serve them the default / latest page=2 . WHy are we debating on 'or' of the option. Expired message or latest

Combination. Use gmail for almost all purposes. Mailchimp for managing subscription list. Own servers for other marketing emails, which although can be classified as semi spam.
