This article seems a little tech-centric. Products don't tend to flourish based purely on technical merit, and there could be many reasons why that product has thrived other than network effects, e.g. aggressive pricing strategies, goo

Yeah I saw this on Reddit too. I'm not sure what the point of the article is. It references Ries in passing as if it's only vaguely relevant, and proceeds to say precisely what Ries said 10 years ago in the first few pages of prob

I'll be extremely disappointed if this type of content starts to get airtime on HN. Save it for Reddit. Ridiculous.

It's the opposite surely. Some of the companies and concepts that seem to survive in SF are considered barmey in other wealthy western cities. Startups whose customers are other startups..

I'd like some solid examples of what companies confirmed perceptions of competitors were in the same vertical, versus the reality. Because even the author references competency-based views of competitive advantage, but for some reason

To be more pedantic, if you're talking about gross profit, it can be counted before wages, depending on the attributes of the wage.

This is a very whiny article, and I find it funny that by the end of an article filled with the sentiment that racism in cooking is bad, that white people are just as capable, he finishes off by effectively saying that white people are bett

I think you sum it up in your first sentence: an MBA involves the study of the discipline of business. It's distinct from the practice of actually running a business, and the courses/classes are almost always highly theoretical

I can't agree on your interpretation of an MBA point of view, but I will say that it does seem to be the most prevalent interpretation. Thinking solely about the bottom line could be the result of a twisted grounding in accounting, but

It confuses me endlessly that MBAs should be so misunderstood by so many people, it being suggested that they are only good for networking, that people with MBAs are cold and evil, and so on. They're simply a course which teach you the

I'd be surprised if 0.001% of art projects are related to Kickstarter in any way, or even if 0.001% of artists have even heard of Kickstarter. Maybe in SV it's different.

I can't believe people are actually taking this ridiculous wealth-centric comment seriously. You've spent too much time in tech/online man, spend some time in the real world.

I think it's so weird that cooking robots don't exist. Most tasks that you perform to cook are repetitive and mostly foolproof, and I say this as someone who trained as a cook. Certain things maybe can't be automated, like se
