If the memo was against the code of conduct, why did they wait one month to take action? A better response from HR would have been to tell him: "this may violate our code of conduct - could you please take it down for the moment while

If the funds went back to all employees equally then it’s a market-based solution. This example is conflating the market for charity donations with parking. If I was going to donate $10k/month to charity anyway, I’d bid $5k a month on

Why wouldn't it scale? It is the same strategy that Apple uses: build a compelling base product, and then sell additional services. You could still have a free service that displays ads.

Initially with cigarettes, society only focused on the positive aspects and even after 50 years people still smoke. Once a company gets going, even if it is discovered there are long term issues with their products, they will be hard to com

I wouldn't lump either Google or Youtube with Facebook. I signed up for Youtube Red, their commercial free subscription. I fill my subscriptions with topics I want to learn more about. It is easier to curate content on Youtube than Fac

This is a good point! Most dating apps have Facebook login and grab a bunch of information from Facebook. Maybe this platform for single people grabs data from Facebook. I like the idea of having LinkedIn and not just adding all my work con

The groups on Facebook are very different but it still works. You should be able to build most things on top of the platform. Flickr was the social network for photographers but most photographers post on Facebook now.

Dating apps right now feel a little like pre-Facebook social networks. There is one for every niche. I wonder why there isn't a platform for single people where dating companies are just apps on top of the platform. Seems like bad user

San Francisco would be one of the harder cities to make self-driving work: bad light, heavy traffic traffic, bicycles, poor lane markings, spotty GPS downtown, etc. I haven't been to Phoenix, so can't comment on the difficulty of

In FiDi/SoMA single parking spots can sell for $150k. I would be expecting $50-100k per resident.

If a neighborhood catered only to tourists and Airbnb visitors it would slowly turn into Times Square (NY) or Union Square (SF). This would not be a stationary equilibrium.

This is spot on. Also having a hotel next door is easy to spot when you are looking for a new place. I think Airbnb is a good idea with regulation that limits the number of weeks you can rent out your place.

Great idea. I tried the verb tenses quiz. It struggled a little to understand me. The voice is also not the easiest to understand. Edit: Doing a multiplication table drill that includes multiple tables would be useful.

So many people in SF leave their house keys in those 3 digit combination locks for Wag dog walkers. Something like this could crack that in seconds.

My old apartment had a system with keys. If you got a package they would lock it in the package mailbox and leave the key in your personal mailbox. I think that is what above comment is referring to. It is nice having a notification, so don

Combining vehicle data with a phone's GPS could improve navigation accuracy in urban canyons [1]. Back in 2007 we read CAN data from a Toyota RAV4 to get wheel encoder, steering angle, acceleration, speed, and braking data [2]. I am su
