Ah, of course - the JZ4770 is the big sibling of the SoC used in the Ben Nanonote series of "fully open source" mini-netbooks, and the Dingoo A320 gaming handhelds, and the like.

I thought I'd seen this all before with the $100 tablets last year, but then I noticed something that sent my jaw to the floor: http://en.ingenic.cn/product.aspx?ID=78 That's the manufacturer for the JZ4770 SoC (system-on-a-chip) used in

If you're going to go that amount of cost/effort then it's probably just as easy to create an Australian Merchant account and then find a gateway that supports it. I don't know how the two compare cost-wise, though. The thing about PayPal t

If you're not in the US then the number of competing solutions (that don't require a merchant account) shrinks dramatically. I'm in Australia, and I don't know of one (have checked out WePay, Stripe, Samurai all mentioned in the comments he

Wow. Many thoughts arose: - Is this more, less, or equivalently legal (copyright-wise) to just posting the youtube videos on youtube in the first place? It seems like the act of compositing them in this way would be significant, but maybe n

I'm confused by this Q&A - I can't think of a hobbyist 3d printer design that doesn't move the build platform: In the Printrbot it appears the print head moves in X & Z, and the build platform moves in Y. Same as the RepRap Mendel.

The comments on the post seem to suggest that Interface Builder w/ XcodeCapp is the way of the future. As a non-OS X user this makes me sad as well, but I'm guessing there are lots of legit reasons for 280 North to decide not to focus on it

I think this ease is somewhat offset by the extent to which Ubuntu are pushing it. When I updated to 11.04 I tried Unity for about 3 hours, got annoyed by certain things hurting my work style (the all-workspaces Alt-Tab mentioned above bein

Which 8-bit micros? avr-gcc, PIC microchip C, HC11 gcc, SDCC (for HC11, 8051, Z80, etc.) all have 16-bit ints. Also, the C standard "Sizes of Integer Types" section sets out minimum ranges each type must allow, and I think int has always be

Ultraportables of that kind aren't really new either, though. I use a 2006-era ThinkPad X60 laptop every day. It's five years old, 76mm (25%) thicker but 90g (10%) lighter than the X1 you mention. Although I admit the X1 has a significant

There are quite a lot of microcontroller RTOSes[1] for the AVR platform, which means you can run them on the Arduino (although you'll need to use avr-gcc not the Arduino IDE for these.) http://www.femtoos.org/ http://www.barello.net/avrx

It's a good story. According to the Apple stories I've read, Wozniak had little to no involvement with the creation of Macintosh. He was in a plane crash in 1981. When he came back to the company in 1983 he was mostly involved with the (inc
